Mexico RV Caravans

What our Customers say

Nearly every Tour Company has a page of Testimonials. They are virtually always glowing  "cherry picked" reviews. We obviously post mostly positive ones as well, but if you believe any company only gets positive testimonials, then I have a bridge I want to sell you. We take the small amount of negative feedback very personally, as we really do our best, sometimes in difficult situations. If we can make positive modifcations we always do that. We embrace "constructive criticism".

We get overwhelming positive feedback about the individual excursions and meals provided with our trips. This company has a history of bus tours and believe it or not, providing tours to  our competitors. Our Tour Guides and the meals we provide are tried & true. When it comes to meals, they are often described as "too good". Sometimes people say "why can't  we have street food on occasion"? No problem with that, but we don't want everyone running for the Imodium on a tour either.

We have found out that up front honesty is the best policy. This is Mexico, not the US or Canada. The key is to be straight with people on what to expect.  Modern RV resorts are not the norm everywhere. Mexico is still in its infancy with regards to RV Parks, although many are actually quite good. There are some routes where large rigs are not advised and there is some dry camping involved on some trips, but we always let you know what to expect, so you are prepared and can make an informed decision if a certain route is, or is not, for your rig. We would rather lose a customer, than blindside one. 99% of the time if people know what to expect, they have a fantastic time and bragging rights with their friends. The real "proof in the pudding" is the large percentage of repeat customers we have had.

Just as I was creating this page, I actually received an e-mail from a former customer
"We are considering going on the big one again. We had such a blast last time on our once in a lifetime all Mexico trip that we are considering making it twice in a lifetime. Have you heard from anyone that was on our trip in 2018 who might be considering going again?"  - Jim & Gail , Colorado May 2019

Here is another from a couple with physical limitations on our 2019 Airstream trip

Hola
We just want to thank you and your team for the marvellous time we had and allowing us to join the Airstream caravan last January despite our physical challenges. Caravanas de Mexico went out of their way to make our adventure an experience of a lifetime. Food was spectacular, tour guides were wonderful, Michael and Louise were the best wagon masters you could ask for. The Ballet and Carnival were amazing and have made all our friends and family jealous.

Regards, Fred and Sue Nicholson

What speaks volumes is the personal friendships cemented on our tours. I have led about 6 caravans and I have made many personal friends with customers, even to the point we visit each other occasionally (Fortunately, some of them are on my route south each year). Also many of our customers return to a favourite spot in Mexico year after year.

Some comments from 2021/2022:

KEVIN SPRAGUE:

"Having done the Baja caravan last January I'd say they're the best there is. We encountered other caravans in our travels and I was always glad to be with Caravanas de Mexico".

WAYNE ERSKINE:

"I have done three caravans with Caravanas de Mexico. One as customer, one as customer/wagon master in training and as a wagon master. All were wonderful experiences. Met some great people and made really good friends. Doing my fourth caravan in January as wagon master for the Yucatan".

JACK BAKER:

"I have done 2 of their caravans and they are the best"

GIZELLA BETAK:

"I went on the January caravan on the Baja and it was an excellent experience and met wonderful people. I highly recommend them"

These are customer interviews that were conducted by Kevin & Ruth Read (travelwithkevinandruth.com). They were relief Wagon Masters for Paul Beddows & Roberta Laakmann on this particular caravan, and they have also led a Yucatan Caravan for us.

Danielle

Danielle (68) is originally from the area around Los Angeles, California, and is currently living full time in her class B van....although she calls Reno, Nevada home.

What prompted you to do this caravan?

I had previously visited Baja California in my van, but I wanted to see the mainland of Mexico, and I was concerned about safety traveling alone. That concern has been alleviated.

What are your impressions of the caravan?

This is my first caravan, and it exceeded my expectations. I have seen places that I would have never seen on my own.

What are your impressions of Mexico?

I love Mexico, especially the people and the easy going, friendly lifestyle.

Have you felt safe travelling around Mexico?

Yes!!!

What has been your favorite experience, or highlight of the trip?

The night walk with the wandering minstrels around Guanajuato.

Would you return to travel by yourself or with another caravan?

I will return by myself, and possibly with another caravan

Stan and Colleen have an interesting history in that they drove a truck and trailer all the way down to the southern tip of South America back in 1996. They sold it there, and flew back to the U.S.

Stan (76) and Colleen (62) from near San Diego, California

What prompted you to do an RV caravan to Mexico?

Despite the fact that we've done a lot of traveling alone, we wanted to try something new. We're also getting a little older, and wanted the security and safety in numbers that a caravan offers.

What are your impressions of the caravan?

We love the day trip and bus tours, and also the dinners and lunches out that were included in the price. The only downside in our opinion was a little lack of planning when the tours were organized on back to back days.

What are your impressions of Mexico?

We love Mexico! It's beautiful, and we love the friendly people and colorful towns.

Have you felt safe traveling around Mexico?

Yes - absolutely.

What has been your favorite experience or highlight of the trip?

Doing the longest zip line in the world at the Copper Canyon. Also meeting Zorro in El Fuerte, and of course all of the wonderful new friends in the caravan.

Would you return to Mexico by yourself or with another caravan?

Both!

Larry & Anne are a retired couple, having owned a small flight service in Northwest Territories, Northern Canada.
They now live in Kelowna, British Columbia
Larry (68) and Anne (64).

What prompted you to do this caravan?

We had been planning a Copper Canyon trip for many years. The opportunity to join up with an RV caravan appealed to us as first timers RV'ing in Mexico.

What is your impressions of the caravan?

This is our first time with a caravan. The people we have met and the tours we have taken far surpass our expectations.

What are your impressions of Mexico?

Since our past visits have only been to resorts along the coast, we are amazed at the beauty of areas of the country we would not have otherwise seen.

Have you felt safe travelling around Mexico?

Absolutely!

What has been your favorite experience, or highlight of the trip?

The Copper Canyon Tour.

Would you return to Mexico, either on your own or with another caravan?

Yes, probably with another caravan.

What prompted you to do an RV caravan to Mexico?

We had been at an RV show in Abbotsford, British Colombia and seen the booth where they were advertising the tour. We had also met someone who had done one of these RV caravans, and we decided that we wanted to see Mexico as part of a safe and escorted trip.

What are your impressions of the caravan?

It has been a pleasure to travel with people of like minds who enjoy experiencing a real insight to Mexican history and it's culture.

What are your impressions of Mexico?

A beautiful country with a rich history. The people have been so friendly and accommodating wherever we go. There is a great deal of litter though!

Have you felt safe traveling around Mexico?

Absolutely. The Green Angels were more than helpful when they accompanied us.

What has been your favorite experience or highlight of the trip?

Bob - Zipline at the Copper Canyon. Fishing in Mazatlan. Walks in Patzcuaro, and supper at the artists home. Also loved happy hours with the group! And the night walk in Guanajuato and the beach at Teacapan.

Betty - Overall, meeting the local people in the markets and freely strolling around the towns. Also, I loved the scenery in Mazamitla.

Would you return to Mexico by yourself or with another caravan?

The answer is yes to both.

The caravan has opened up the many sides of Mexico. The knowledgeable guides and wagon masters all added to an understanding of old Mexico. Beaches and condos are such a small part. We prefer the high country of Mazamitla and Guanajuato, but a mixture of months is probably the way to go.

John and Janice

Placeholder Picture

John and Janice...semi retired business owners from Toronto, Ontario, Canada

What prompted you to do this caravan?

John (60) and Janice (59) have spent a lot of time in Florida escaping the cold Canadian winter, but they feel that the weather there is not as consistent as they would like it to be. So, they figured they might find something better travelling in Mexico.

What are your impressions of the caravan?

It's fun having the comeraderie of the group, but it's not as much beach time as we would have liked. We knew ahead of time that we would be spending quite a lot of time in the higher altitudes where it's cooler, but we think we would like to spend more time where it's warmer in future trips.

It was great traveling with the Green Angels and the feeling of security that affords if you happen to have mechanical problems on the road.

What are your impressions of Mexico?

We love the friendly people and the great food!

Have you felt safe travelling around Mexico?

Yes.

What has been your favorite experience, or highlight of the trip?

The Copper Canyon trip. Oh, and the trip up into the mountains of Jalisco to visit the mescal distillery was the most authentic Mexican experience ever!

Would you return to travel by yourself or with another caravan?

Probably with another caravan, but not this particular route. Prefer warmer climate.

Paul and Fran

Paul and Fran, from the little town of Fergus, Ontario just north of Guelph and Kitchener-Waterloo...
Paul, Fran, and their dog Max!

This is Paul and Fran's second Mexico RV caravan trip, with the same company.

What prompted you to do this caravan?

We think that RV caravan travel gives you the opportunity to see and do things that you wouldn't normally be able to see. And, we learned that we love traveling with the group and have a lot of fun with them.

What are your impressions of the caravan?

Great way to travel and learn about the network of roads in Mexico.

What are your impressions of Mexico?

We love Mexico, the people, their culture, the food, and the diverse landscape and terrain.

Have you felt safe travelling around Mexico?

We have always felt safe in Mexico. We do not put ourselves in an unsafe environment.

What has been your favorite experience, or highlight of the trip?

It is hard to pick just one...or two or three!
- The mescal town in the mountains
- The drive from Mazatlan to Durango
- Dinner at Jacob Domingues home near Cuitzeo was very memorable.

Would you return to travel by yourself or with another caravan?

We would return by ourselves or with others traveling to the same destinations. A caravan to a different area would also be an option for us.

Randy & Debbie

Placeholder Picture

Randy and Debbie, from a little place called Long Reach on the St. John River in New Brunswick, Canada

What prompted you to do this caravan?

Initially, we were looking at visiting Mexico's Copper Canyon. Researching that led us to blogs and testimonials about Caravanas de Mexico.

With retirement approaching, we decided that three months in Mexico sounded like a pretty good idea!

What are your impressions of the caravan?

Very well led and organized. It's given us opportunities to experience Mexico fully, and beyond what we could have managed any other way.

What are your impressions of Mexico?

The food, the weather, the landscape, the people, the culture, the history...it's all superb, rich, and beautiful and beyond our expectations.

Have you felt safe travelling around Mexico?

At the beginning of the trip we were a little concerned, but now we're at the point where we don't even think about it. We have not had a single moment of discomfort. And rather than threats, we see smiling, welcoming faces.

What has been your favorite experience, or highlight of the trip?

Perhaps the access to some phenomenal, knowledgable tour guides who shared so much with us. Reviewing our itinerary, we couldn't possibly pick a favourite...every day seems to present surprising highlights.

Would you return to travel by yourself or with another caravan?

We're already planning on returning next year and probably for many years to come.
We're signing up for Spanish classes when we get home!
